Situated in the student hinterland of sayajigunj this was one of the first places to sell the Italian delight in Baroda that we have all come to adore. They are freshly made and manage to elicit the right responses from the fickle taste buds of the citizens. Their pasta’s and other Italian delights make it an absolutely fantastic place for a meal. Their pizzameo variety of pizza is delightful and a must have. Their Chipolata Funghi is also pretty good. All in all a not so expensive way to taste a bit of Italy.

This is something lot better than the usual fast food that has become so common in the city. The concept of wraps is something unusual for the people of the city. They have also come up wit the concept of pockets, they are exactly that, little pockets with the filling of our choice. They have tried to bring a bit of Indianness to the fast food and it does make for a pretty refreshing change. Frequented by youngsters and professionals alike it is a much needed change for the city in love with food. Available in two locations in the city, at Fatehgunj and at Old Padra road, this place has fast become a hot favourite among the youth.

With its semi rustic décor, and absolutely mouthwatering items on menu, Zaika is one of the best places to go for a purely north Indian meal. Their chicken banjara kebab and paneer pudina tikka have to be eaten to be believed. They also have a party hall on the floor above them which they give on rent. The ambience is a blend of the rustic and the plush. Copper plates, and glasses coupled with soft seats and air conditioning can be a heady feeling. Feeding the corporate as well as family clientele they have long since been one of the favourites among the foodies in the city.

They tried once and failed, but now they are back. They had previously opened shop in Alkapuri but had to close down, but with a new location and a hip outlet later they are definitely in business. Their inspired marketing strategies (read- Indianized toppings) and mouth watering array of pizza’s invariably attract a throng of foodies all day round. The only thing that goes against them is their insipid décor, it is way to synthetic for a barodian. But hey as long as they manage to keep the calzones and pizzas coming nobody really seems to mind.

Despite serving the greatest cliché of Italian food, namely Pizza’s and Pasta’s they manage to do it with Wood Fire Pizza. The ambience is plush and the food almost lives up to it. Their pasta’s are also good and worth a try. But more than anything else, its an inexpensive way to experience what little of Italy we can while staying put. If you are in there then don't miss out their Tiramisu Chocolate Bomb & Panacota Dessert..

It used to be famous for its enormous ice-cream selection but since its inception the Havmor restaurant has been dishing out some pretty scrumptious delights. With the posters of bollywood greats adorning the walls, it almost manages to exude a retro feel. Their Lemon chicken Cantonese style is definitely worth a try. Their ice cream section still manages to grab attention from the rest of their menu. Their Raja-Rani and chocolate chips varieties are definitely the prize winners in this category. |
